Documentum, an XML-enabled content management provider is leveraging Acrobat
5.0 and Adobe PDF to enable its customers to securely access, interact with,
distribute and publish digital content in PDF format. "Documentum 4i
eBusiness Platform is the enterprise content management infrastructure needed
to power today's e-business applications, both within and among enterprises,"
said Whitney Tidmarsh, vice president of product marketing for Documentum.
"One way Documentum 4i aids in saving our customers time and money is
by enabling the secure digital delivery of information using Adobe PDF. Using
Acrobat 5.0, we can now build systems that allow employees, business partners
and suppliers of global organizations to access secure forms and published
content, share edits and comments, and simultaneously make annotations on
the same piece of content, regardless of geographical location."
Through its relationship with Entrust Technologies, Inc., Acrobat 5.0 offers
customers industry-leading security using encryption technology for access
and distribution of Adobe PDF documents. "Adobe has always been a visionary
when it comes to the secure and efficient exchange of paperless information,"
Paul Doscher, executive vice president, marketing and business development,
Entrust Technologies Inc. "Now that legislation has been enacted to recognize
digital signatures as binding as those on paper-based documents, Entrust Technologies
and Adobe are working together to make it easier for businesses to securely
and easily take advantage of this new opportunity, and are poised to take
the digital signature and certificate technologies to the next level. Entrust
is committed to working with industry leaders to leverage our digital signature
technology in new and innovative ways."
Professional services organization PricewaterhouseCoopers is also implementing
Acrobat 5.0 in its enterprise business solutions. "Regardless of the
type of content management system we have implemented for our partners, Acrobat
has been a cornerstone technology that enables our customers to share documents
online, assign security and permissions to documents and use electronic forms
and the Web in their daily business, all while preserving the look and feel
of the document using Adobe PDF. Adobe has also devised an easy and intuitive
way for our customers to use the Web to upgrade to future versions of Acrobat.
Innovations like these will keep Adobe at the top." Howard Postley, Global
Director, Digital Media at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
